This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, hold, and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What information we collect

In the course of providing legal services and operating this website, we may collect the following kinds of personal information:

  • Technical information about your visit to this website (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected through standard server logs and cookies

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you instruct us, complete a form on this website, correspond with us, or are referred to us by another party (for example, a real estate agent, broker, or financial adviser). We may also collect information from third parties such as the other side’s solicitor, lenders, government registers (LRS, ASIC, PEXA, council records), and verification-of-identity providers.

3. How we use it

We may disclose personal information to: the other party’s legal representatives in the course of acting on your matter; lenders, brokers, and accountants where you have authorised us to do so; PEXA and other electronic settlement workspaces; government bodies including the NSW Land Registry Services, councils, ILGA, and revenue authorities; our service providers (IT, document management, anti-money-laundering checking); and where required or authorised by law.

We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose personal information to overseas recipients except where necessary for the conduct of a matter or where service providers operate cloud infrastructure outside Australia (in which case we take reasonable steps to ensure equivalent protection).

5. Storage and security

We hold personal information in secure electronic and paper-based systems with access restricted to staff who require it for the conduct of your matter. We retain client records for the period required by our professional obligations and applicable law (typically seven years from completion of a matter).
